Beautiful woodland wedding
Every wedding is wonderful in its own way, but sometimes when you get an email enquiry you just know it's going to be one that will stand out in your mind at the end of the season, and I think this is one of those weddings.
Sally and Matt were married at De Vere Latimer Estate, which is surrounded by woodland and rolling countryside, and they reflected that in their day with a naturalistic feel to their centrepieces and decor.
For their cake, they chose lemon and blueberry cake with blueberry buttercream, pistachio cake with pistachio buttercream and rosewater syrup, and raspberry and white chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream and white chocolate ganache.
The cake was finished with a polished ivory buttercream, then painted with shades of sage-y green in an abstract watercolour effect designed to reflect and imply a hillside without being too realistic.
The cake was then finished with laser cut wooden cake toppers provided by the couple and foliage from their florist. The foliage was small and delicate and designed to tie in with the centrepieces.
I loved making this cake - fundamentally, it's a basic polished buttercream cake but it shows what a splash of colour and the right decoration can do.
