Raspberry and Ivory Wedding cake
Jessica and Barry are such a sweet, gentle couple. They came to me for a cake tasting and it quickly became clear that Jessica is a big fan of cake with a zing to it!
The colour scheme for their wedding was based around pinks and ivories, but focussed on a rich, vibrant raspberry pink. Jessica fell in love with my raspberry buttercream (well, it is amazing!) and loved how it looked as well as how it tasted. Usually I go out of my way to hide the buttercream inside the cake and to present a pristine ivory look on the outside, but not for this cake.
This is one of those cakes that could have looked terrible - it's such a bold colour and it could easily have just been raspberry and ivory stripes, so the flower placement and gold drip was essential to break up the colour blocks and make the cake work as a whole.
The cake was topped with clay giraffes provided by the couple, and they were super cute!
The cake was Raspberry cake with passionfruit buttercream and raspberry buttercream, Mango cake with mango buttercream and raspberry and white chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream and white chocolate ganache.
Usually I would steer a couple away from two raspberry-based cakes (or two cakes that are very similar), but it works beautifully because the raspberry and passionfruit is fresh, zingy and exotic, whereas the raspberry and white chocolate is creamier and softens the raspberry a little, which makes for two very different cakes.
